BIOGRAPHY

Viola Chong is a Soprano from Hong Kong who has currently obtained her Bachelor degree in Classical Voice in the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, studying under Catrin Wyn-Davis, Noa Frenkel and Pianist, Maurice Lammerts van Bueren.

Chong began performing with different Baroque and early music ensembles and was often selected as soloist in choral performances. She has worked with conductors such as Peter Philips from the Tallis Scholars, Manoj Kamps and Dr. Edward Wickham from St. Catherine's College, University of Cambridge.

During her studies in the Royal Conservatoire the Hague, she has discovered her passion in acting, and has since participated in different opera performances from early baroque to contemporary compositions, such as the Opera Forward Festival by the Dutch National Opera and Ballet in 2023, and upcoming projects of Teseo by Handel directed by Michael Chance and opera scenes of Benjamin Britten conducted by Jac van Steen in 2024. Chong has also received masterclasses from English Countertenor, Andrew Watts, Dutch baritone, Maarten Koningsberger, American soprano, Barbara Bonney.

Besides her performing career, Chong also holds a degree in Fashion Management and has a deep interest in the behind-the-scenes of opera production and aspires to have a career in Art Management and production as well in the future. She is also a portrait photographer who prides herself with her ability to capture beauty and authenticity through her lens.
